Jameel Salahuddin

Alabama born and Texas raised, Jameel started dancing at the late tender age of 30. Although he considered himself a dancer all his life, his first technique class would take place in DC at Joy of Motion. Beginning with hip hop and Jazz, he would cross paths with Neil Whitehead who trained him in the studies of Horton and Ballet for 3 years with his start up company Spirit Contemporary Dance Theater. In his spare time, Jameel continues studying jazz, contemporary, ballet, and modern with instructors Vincent W, Derek Brown and Tammy Hurst among others. Now with Black Leaves Dance Company, directed by Steven Wilson and Camal Pugh, he continues to grow and perfect his art.
