In conjunction with the March 6 – April 24, 2021 Fred Schnider Gallery of Art Exhibition, Scott Hutchison | Flux,  Jane Franklin Dance presents Drift, an intimate collection of dances in response to the visual landscape of Hutchison’s art.  In Touch, the camera pulls close, framing the individual dancer in moments that spiral around the spine or that delicately enfold. Hands grasp and the space is contained by the curving body. Subtle shifts layer the dancer with the art on the wall, the ethereal overlaps with the static while Hutchison’s spoken-words describe his process and the elements of change.

In Replace and Offset dancers use the physical landscape of the gallery, namely, two incomplete walls that instigate a playful exchange between presence and escape.  Other segments include a look at the busy pedestrian N. Quincy Street outside the gallery doors and the bike lane just at the sidewalk’s edge.

Post performance Q&A follows.
